GTA Online Goes Live With New Patch
Is GTA5’s online doomed to reprise the Diablo 3 / Sim City situations? It’s not quite, but here’s some stuff you should know.
It seems the American government isn’t the only thing not working quite right today. GTA5 has launched it’s online mode today, shortly after becoming the fastest selling game of all time, and as expected, the gamers came in rushing. This has caused a bit of an overload, and while the game is technically up and running, gamers all around the world are reporting bugs and performance issues.
The mandatory patch released today fixes many things in the regular story mode, mainly interface issues when using Internet on the cell phone after completing the game or during a mission replay, the Vanilla Unicorn occasionally becoming locked, a fix for issues where the character’s money could drop below zero and become stuck, the Epsilon Program missions not progressing properly after delivering some cars, the Atomic Blimp sometimes not appearing as a phone contact, vehicles going missing or losing their upgrades, and several map escape and collision issues along with other various bugs, as well as finally granting access to the online portion of the game. The problem? Most gamers just see a “failure to host session” shortly after setting up their online persona, and then get kicked back to story mode.
Rockstar have set a dedicated support team to resolve technical issues at their support page and twitter, as well as an email address for feedback or suggestions at [email protected]. We hope and expect to see the situation normalized soon!
