Back in the frozen grips of February, Sony announced plans to bring the newest model of the PlayStation Vita to North America in a Borderlands 2 Limited Edition Bundle. The only part of that announcement they left out was the release date. Oh you cheeky monkey, Sony.

That changed Tuesday though, when Sony moved their collective butts and finally revealed that the bundle would arrive at retailers May 6th. It still features the slimmer revamped PS Vita Wi-Fi model, a digital copy of Borderlands 2, and an 8GB memory card for the price of $199.99. As to my knowledge, this is the only means to get your hands on the latest Vita model. For now, I hope.

As for the PlayStation Vita port of Borderlands 2, the amazing hybrid first-person shooter and role-playing game, Sony says that it worked closely with Iron Galaxy Studios (Divekick, Darkstalkers Resurrection), original developer Gearbox Software, and publisher 2K to insure a primo quality port with the ability to continue your current campaign on the PlayStation 3 over to the PS Vita, thanks to cross save functionality.

If you’re looking for the game outside of the Limited Edition Bundle, it will be available a week after on May 13. Either at your local game shop of choice, physically, or digitally through the PlayStation Store. As a sweet bonus, Borderlands 2 on PS Vita will also get six free add-on DLC packs, pushing over the hours of loot-hunting fun and hijinks to insane levels.
