PlayStation Network Releases: August 30th, The Baconing, MK Arcade Collection, Elevator Action Deluxe

The Baconing, the Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection, & Elevator Action Deluxe — all that and more on this week’s PlayStation Network Releases for August 30th, 2011!

Boy oh boy is there so much digital content to choose from in the last batch of PlayStation Network goodies for August 2011. First things first, is the second game in the PSN PLAY event and final chapter in the DeathSpank trilogy from Hothead Games, The Baconing. Mmm… The Baconing. I don’t care what the game is about, but from name alone, it owns in every way.

Although, if you do care about what The Baconing entails, it’s over 100 new quests and 3 new locations to explore. You, the hero DeathSpank, must seek out and defeat a new threat to Spanktopia, and this time it’s you, the AntiSpank. Using your Weapons of Justice, warriors must bring about peace once again to the land, in this hilarious tale of fantasy and sci-fi hijinks.

Meanwhile — if you want to reminisce about a period in videogame history where parents of America had their knickers in a bunch over a fighting game series, that by today’s standards, thanks to the likes of God of War seem kid-friendly mother-approved in comparison, how about picking up the Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection.

For $10, the “kollection” includes the arcade versions of Mortal Kombat, Mortal Kombat 2, and Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 — three well-regarded arcade hits along with online play, leaderboards, and trophies for all you gaming completionists. Now, if ninjas and humanoid tigers with 3 arms aren’t your thing (how dare you,) for the same price, the creator of Space Invaders, might have something just for you.

That would be Elevator Action Deluxe. And much how Bionic Commando Rearmed brought back to life a good yet forgotten title of yesteryear, Taito’s new take on the side-scrolling platformer — where the player uses elevators and puzzle-thinking skills to evade enemy spies and collect secret documents — does the same, by giving it a modern look, new additions like new weapons, and new (offline) multiplayer modes.

Flippin’ honrytoads! I still haven’t even gotten around to the other big stuff that’s also on this week’s list of PlayStation Network releases; the amount is really that impressive. Say the Assassin’s Creed: Revelations Multiplayer Beta for PlayStation Plus members or ClaDun X2 for the PlayStation Portable.

Alas, my time is short. So I guess I’ll leave it to you to be good little videogame connoisseurs  and check out the rest. Godspeed!
