PlayStation Network Releases: October 4th — Only On PSN, PS2 Classics, Resident Evil 5 Gold Edition

For the week of October 4th, 2011, it’s great exclusive PSN games, PlayStation 2 classics, and Resident Evil 5 Gold Edition.

A celebration of the PlayStation Network’s exclusive content. That’s the peppy party-theme Sony is going with this entire October as the “Only On PSN” event gets it start in this week’s new update to the PlayStation Network. Every week two new PSN exclusives out of the total eight, the likes of which look all so yummy, will be given their time to shine and for PlayStation Plus subscribers, a 20% discount on any title the first week of their availability.

Now hold onto your butts for this one folks — not only are exclusive PSN games the focus for October, but also rare classic games from the PlayStation 2! Does mean the future of PS2 emulation is upon the PlayStation 3 nation, the day many a star-crossed gamer wished for when backwards compatibility was silently removed from the PS3? Sadly, I can’t give that answer now, but let’s pray to the mighty gaming gods to be so.

Starting this week (so excited!!!) five PlayStation 2 rarities will be at your buying disposal for 10 space bucks each; the titles being God Hand, GrimGrimoire, Maximo, Odin Sphere and Ring of Red. Good gravy — it’s gonna be wicked difficult not to waste a lot of money this month, yet thankfully (or cruelly?), Sony is giving PSN customers added incentive to do so by giving $10 credit for November to anyone who spends more than $60 in October. Well, there goes this month’s paycheck…

What else this week? Hmm, there’s the release of Resident Evil 5 Gold Edition ($29.99, without the 25% off discount for PS+ users), remember last week was the release of Code Veronica, and NBA Jam: On Fire Edition — you know what, just get on with the list, because I’ll be here all day if I have to explain all there fantastic  stuff this week on the PlayStation Network. I could be doing better things, like reading up on my Castlevania knowledge with our 25th birthday tribute to the popular Konami series.
