Sleek PS3 Wand Controller Concept Incorporates Motion Sensing Technology

It is not always easy to depend on a regular and old fashioned PS3 controller while playing different video games, and Sony had announced their Magic Wand sometime ago, which makes use of the famed PS3 Motion Sensing Technology and it looked real good.

However, one requires that special-something to bring back the fun while playing games and the one designed by Miguel Duarte, looks just right! Miguel has created the cool new conceptual PS3 wand, which is a PlayStation motion controller design. The PS3 Wand looks really sleek and slim, and thus should not pose an ergonomic problem.

The PS3 Magic Wand Controller concept comes with double wands, a strap and an adapter. You could attach the wands to make them seem like a real PS3 Controller, if you want to play the regular games. However, when you are playing games that require a lot of hand movement, you can simulate your movements in real time with just the wand, held by the strap.

The PSWand seems like a really cool concept, but there isn’t much information available about its technical specifications. It would certainly be equipped with motion sensors, and with the control buttons placed strategically, it would be a breeze to play video games. Resident Evil 5: Alternative Edition was announced during the TGS 2009 and surprisingly, it supports the PS3 Motion Controller. When you are playing as Chris Redfield, you could use the Motion Controller for deciding what happens in the game and how you tackle the fighting, instead of a regular controller. Resident Evil 5: Alternative Edition is not half as scary as its previous installments as the stress is mo0re towards action and fighting.

In fact, you are never left alone and would be more in touch with your aggressive instincts than the fear instinct which was the selling point of previous versions of the game. Sheva Alomar would be your partner and she does not come with physical strength but makes up for it through her intelligence and tact. The game becomes quite interesting as it supports the Motion Controller and that is one of the reasons why Resident Evil 5: Alternative Edition is eagerly expected.

You could go ahead and kick all the bio-terrorists and black market guys’ butts and show the baddies what it is like to fight against Chris Redfield. You could check out one of the Resident Evil 5 Action Figures in which Chris Redfield looks like a Greek god. The Resident Evil Zombie T-shirt is just for you if you like playing sick practical jokes on your friends at a house party.

The exciting new PS3 Motion Controller, also known as the Magic Wand for 3D PS Games, is schedule for Spring 2010, but it doesn’t mean we don’t get some additional information from Sony to get us excited and hyped towards next year.

This in depth video of the PS3 Motion Controller goes a lot further than before about the Magic Wand’s capabilities, looks, movements and actions. Without the E3 time constraint allowing them to only show certain highlights, Sony now demos the Playstation 3 Motion Controller slowly, with explanations throughout the way.

The capabilities are still great with the Magic Wand, like we already seen before, but in this video, it is also shown how the Magic Wand can be used as a controller to pick up things and actually control a character or action further than just pushing a button. It also shows the variation between the ‘real world’, ‘virtual world’ that shows the actual item the Magic Wand represents within the game or screen and also the copy of the virtual world which combines the PS3 Eye’s view of the player and the Virtual World. The latter grants the player a better ability to really imagine the object the PS3 Motion Controller has ‘become’.

Allow Sony to explain the whole ordeal much better including showing you the cool visuals and examples. I personally can’t wait for this to come out, and by what they mentioned…it is up to game developers to use the technology and come up with amazing use for it.

PS3 Motion Controller: PS3 Magic Wand Scheduled for Spring 2010

Sony PS3 has been working on their own motion sensing gaming for the PS3, and Kaz Hirai, the CEO of SCEA, has mentioned it is scheduled for a Spring 2010 release – we can only hope it really comes true.

The PS3 Motion Sensing Technology, also titled the Magic wand, will provide a brand new controller that will mimic your gameplay and allow for better interaction and vision of the actual object of the player. The Magic Wand PS3 comes will supposedly consist of a few separate buttons bit include a “flashing orb” in the front (top) which will in turn allow the sensing of your movements and perform the specified actions; syncing with the screen gameplay.

The 1st cool PS3 Motion Controller video below was a sneak peek from the previous E3 conference, which shows the different possibilities and ideas currently worked on by Sony. The 2nd video goes over the PS3 Magic Wand development and early prototypes.

It looks extremely fun and it would be great if some cool games will be added to it, along with some 3D PS3 Games.
