Fantastic PS4 Concept by Joe Dumary

This is a post from Ps3 Maven who bring you the best play station 3, Games, Mods and News.

Sony has been repeating non-stop for the last few months how there’s no successor for the PS3 in the near horizon, yet fans expect a new incarnation of the PlayStation every day now. For those who dare to dream, like Joe Dumary, Sony’s words hold no meaning at all. They want the future and they want it now! And if Sony is not gonna give them a new machine, they might as well develop their own.

Introducing, the PS4 by Joe Dumary, aka, The First Smart Console in the world. The console, part of the PlayEco line, uses 0 watts in standby. With the “ECO Restart” function, the player may save their game and turn off the console… turn it on and resume the game without a load where they left off.

The console looks like a mixture between a PlayStation 2 Slim and a Memory Card, so it has a lot of retro appeal, while providing the best of the next generation at the same time. It is made of 60% recycled material, a magnesium alloy and carbon (25%), light, weighs only 2.1 KG, and consumes only 90 watts. Another note on power management, this machine is smart and after 30 minutes of play, draws on its reserves by automatically cutting the power for 5 minutes. So you play on Playr (playreserve) and restarts the flow after 5 minutes to save electricity. In case of a short-circuit, players do not lose their data … the PS4 will take over with playreserve and automatically save the game leaving the players up where they left off.

Compatibility with PS Vita allows players to use it as a remote control for browsing the Internet or play some games using the touch capabilities. Also, the PS4 is compatible with Sony tabs and all Sony devices, and capable multitasking. Users will be able to do several things at once like, say, pause the game, go to the PlayStation Community Gaming, watch videos on Youtube application and resume the game.

Also, you might be wondering what is Playstation Community-Gaming. In Dumary’s words, it’s “a portal dedicated to gamers, or you can chat (text or video) with other players, share your games, walkthroughs, or connect with players having the same game with the search function.”

And now that we’ve covered the connectivity functions, we might as well talk about Dumary’s hardware: 1.5TB HDD, Full 3D 4K2K compatible, DLNA, DPhdmi (HDMI Connect), 3D Blu-ray (Blu Ray “DEUCE” Compatible: 3 times more data than the classic blu ray disc), USB 3.0, DPConnect Bravia Sync, Qriocity, Sony Ericsson sync, Cloud Saving, and live TV and applications. The PS4 also features DPHDMI (or HDMI Connect): If users do not have a compatible DPConnect TV’s, the DPHDMI allows to connect the console to your TV wirelessly. All audio systems are detected automatically, too. Excited yet? Combining this exciting hardware and connectivity options could lead to smarter games: some games support the “Open Reality”, which means they will reproduce the weather and time in real time.

Thanks to DPConnect-Advanced the console connects wirelessly to compatible DPConnect TV’s. users do not need HDMI or other audio-video cables, as the console will automatically detect TVs and select according to the resolution of the screen by default, all in less than 4ms. With DPConnect Advanced, you could play with two (or six) players on two (or six) different TVs with the same console, so everyone could see his game without split screen (for some shows like E3, Tokyo Game, and so on, for example ). The distance between the console and the TV should be 7.5m maximum.

The controller has a light sensor (for screen luminosity), an option screen to adjust settings such as the rigidity of the analog sticks (the stick will be difficult to maneuver in some parts of certain games for total immersion), and the battery level. The screen allows players to access certain options such as battery management, and some option of the PS4 console (it allows for adjustments to the console without pause, for example). Controls charge via USB or inductive charging. One-touch power button, and all options appear. Dreamy, huh?

Playstation Vita’s Launch Price Announced: Starting at $249

This is a post from Ps3 Maven who bring you the best play station 3, Games, Mods and News.

Sony’s E3 conference from yesterday was pretty exciting, with a bunch of new games being announced, but the star of the show was undoubtedly the upcoming PlayStation Vita. Fans all over the world had been asking for info on Sony’s new handheld device, successor to the PSP and the PSP Go. Yesterday, after several months of speculation, Sony finally showed the goods for all of the attending crowd, and we can’t help but be pretty excited about it.

For starters, it’s official: the console formerly referred as NGP is now to be called “PlayStation Vita” (“vita” means “life” in Latin) for “it enables a revolutionary combination of rich gaming and social connectivity within a real world context”, according to the guys at the PlayStation Blog. The console features updates of every function the PSP already had, processing power which almost rivals that of the PS3, a 5-inch multi-touch organic light emitting diode (OLED) as the front display and a multi-touch pad on the rear. Also, Sony has listened to the fans and this handheld features two analog sticks. Finally!

There will be two available models of the console, one at $249 and another one, with 3G functionality at $299. This doesn’t seem to pricey when compared to the price of its direct competitor, the Nintendo 3DS, and should start some interesting competition between the two systems. The carrier who will provide the 3G service will be AT&T in the US, but is yet to be announced in the rest of the world. But, this is a console, anyways, and what matters the most are the games. Well, some of the expected titles are UNCHARTED: Golden Abyss, LittleBigPlanet, and Ruin (working title), Little Deviants, Hot Shots Golf, Reality Fighter, Hustle Kings, ModNation Racers, Wipeout, and Super Stardust Delta. Excited yet? Then, watch the console in action.

The launch date is apparently by the end of the year, coinciding with the holidays. Personally, we can’t wait to get our hands on Sony’s new machine, and try it first hand. What about you, dear readers?

Rumor: NGP To Be Officially Named “PlayStation Vita”

This is a post from Ps3 Maven who bring you the best play station 3, Games, Mods and News.

Are these leaked photos a confirmation of the true name to Sony’s next PlayStation Portable outing, the NGP? Hit the jump to find out the current developments.

What’s in a name – for Sony and their second attempt at a gaming dedicated handheld, that existential question is an all too important one. Sure, Next Generation Portable is an apt description of what’s to come — but it’s hardly something you can slap on a box and call it day, and considering how PlayStation Portable 2 doesn’t quite wash away the bad taste of failure that the original PSP was – it just won’t do either.

A good approach for Sony might be to don their next PSP successor with an exciting new talk-of-the-Twitter name. Perhaps, something along the lines of what the latest rumors are now reporting, because hot information from anonymous sources claim that the official name for the NGP will be the PlayStation Vita.

A quick Google Translate says that “Vita” means “Life” in English – certainly an element that many critics say is desperately needed in abundant amounts for the struggling PSP brand.

The buzz around this developing story gets even crazier with the fascinating addition of new leaked photos (above) that are accompanying the reports. Found by the relatively unknown blog-site GamesPundit, the two images in question show what seem to be an E3 proof sheet (which is like an informational brochure) for the NGP and its new Vita logo displayed proudly on it, both in writing on the proof sheet and on the handheld itself.

These images sure do cut the not-fake mustard, don’t they? Although they still could be a clever ruse by internet pranksters, so it’s probably best to apply the strong rumor tag for the time being – something that is not going to be so simple to do, because when upon further investigation, a valid domain for the name “Vita” can be found that links directly to a Sony Computer Entertainment Developer Network website.

As for the name “Vita” itself, personally it is quite the interesting choice. A bit silly? …maybe. But Sony does have a penchant of being really ornate when it comes to naming their electronics, like the name “Vaio” for their line of laptops. One thing I would love to know honestly – and I’m sure everyone else is too – is whether it’s pronounced “vee-tah” as in vehicle or “vi-tah” as in vitamin.

Too bad we might not learn that answer until E3 this June 6 – that is if this incredibly intriguing rumor is true.
