Dual Shock 3 and SIXAXIS are quite passé these days and though there is this comfort level associated with Dual Shock 3s, Datel’s Wildfire launch comes as a pleasant surprise. It is a generic controller but has standard PS3 features and much more. It comes with cool and futuristic features like tilt sensitivity, Bluetooth and vibration.

Thanks to the tilt sensitivity, controlling games, especially racing games could never have been easier! Vibration would certainly add to the tactile perception of the gameplay, which is quite important. The design is pretty cool too, but the usage of 2 AA batteries kills all the enthusiasm. The Wildfire costs $50 and can be bought at various places.

The controller looks a little drab, in my opinion. Though it comes with a number of futuristic features, the design as anything but futuristic. In fact it looks quite dull to me, and also the 2 AA batteries could have been avoided. I guess, we can’t have the cake and eat it as well! You must also try reading about the Arcade PS3 Controller which is a sure shot answer to all your arcade needs. The XCM Dominator PS3 Controller has its own charm and looks quite snazzy.

Lauren Swingle seems to be as fascinated by the Dual Shock controllers as any avid gamer would be. However, she seems to take it a step further and has created the Sony Playstation 3 Controller Earrings and Cufflinks. This jewelry are handmade from polymer clay and can be customized according to the customer’s needs and wishes.

The earrings are made in fish-hook style but you could request for dangle clip-ons if you have not got your ears pierced. The earrings could be customized to look like a pendant or bracelet, or even as a cell phone accessory. The earrings cost $23 for a pair and if you wish to have them customized into something else like a necklace for instance, the prices would differ. Price should not be an issue when one is talking about such pretty designs specially available at Etsy’s Clay Collection.

The cufflinks are quite interesting too and would make great and unique gifts for friends and family. The Sony PS3 Dual Shock Controller Cufflinks cost $30. The PlayStation inspired adornments would be gift packed in a cotton filled jewelry box and shipping would have to be added to the price mentioned. Lauren has certainly created some of the most beautiful Dual Shock controller inspired artifacts ever.

Tamar Fleisher, a Tel Aviv based designer who studies at the Holon Institute of Technology has created the Dualshock Vortex PS3 Controller – a conceptual controller for the Sony Playstation 3. The concept took birth in the dissatisfaction of many gamers with the current design. The problem being, the current PlayStation controller has not changed much in years though it is very comfortable to hold.

Dedicated gamers felt the present controller lacked precise motion sensing abilities and the existing technology isn’t accurate. Moreover, many felt that the present controller is not great to play skill battle games. The bottom of the Dualshock Vortex has a soft touch finish and the buttons are strategically placed for easy access and reducing finger movements.

The Dualshock Vortex controller has many features that you may not find in your regular controller and would be a great purchase if it is ever manufactured. I am sure there is a huge market out there for ergonomic and functional controllers for the PS3 which are also affordable.

Dualshock 3 PS3 Controller lacked a Windows driver with RUMBLE support for a very long time. Interestingly, someone has unveiled a Windows Driver with the said support for the PS3 controller to be used for Windows. Though setting up the driver isn’t so complicated you will have to go through a procedure which involves the installation of four drivers.

You could download the bundle of four drivers, which contains a normal driver, a DX driver, an app to help you tweak, and the Rumble driver. Now you would only need to choose either normal or DX and then plug in the DS3 to PC. After doing so, you could open the device manager and install either Normal/DX drivers.

Rumble installation requires you to right click on the .INF file and say ‘install’, which opens a tray for you to tweak your settings. PS3 and its accessories come with limitations and that is what hacking is meant to address, make lives of PS3 fans more meaningful.
