This is a very special week on PSN, as acclaimed producers Ubisoft puts most of their catalog on sale. If you were waiting to get your hands on some Prince of Persia, Assassin’s Creed titles, or stand-alone titles such as I Am Alive, now is the time.

Ubisoft are right now one of the biggest names in the industry. Their games are usually amongst the best selling titles whenever they come out, and with good reason, as they tend to provide variety and great gameplay experiences for every type of gamer. As such, this is a special week as some of their titles are going on sale on PSN. These titles are going 30% off for all users, but 50% off for PS Plus members. There’s surely something out there for every type of gamer, no matter what their platform of choice is (PS3, PS Vita, or even PSP).

The Assassin’s Creed 3 plot is still fresh in most people’s minds, but now Ubisoft have released details of Assassin’s Creed 4 : Black Flag, the sequel to AC3.

On Thursday (the 28th of March), Ubisoft, the developer and publisher of the Assassin’s Creed games released the the official Assassin’s Creed 4 : Black Flag packshots, giving fans a look at what the game will look like on shelves and today Ubisoft are finally releasing info about what the game will look like when it’s fired up in your fancy games machines, whose pretty face we’ll be looking at and just exactly which historical setting our eyes will be privy to when the game launches.

What some beady eyed readers will perhaps have already known (from Ubisoft information leaks over the past two days) is that Assassin’s Creed 4 : Black Flag will see players take control of a brand new assassin called Edward Kenway. Assassin by title but pirate by trade (he was a pirate trained by the Assassin Brotherhood), Edward Kenway is a fierce and mysterious sea-faring character who is feared by everyone, including the notorious pirate Blackbeard (as you can see in the AC4 trailer embedded below). Edward Kenway also happens to be the grandfather of one Connor Kenway, the protagonist of Assassin’s Creed 3.

In an official press release from Ubisoft, they’ve confirmed the Assassin’s Creed 4 : Black Flag setting as “the dawn of the 18th Century” a time that sees players taking on a “journey throughout the West Indies during a turbulent and violent period of time later to become known as the Golden Age of Pirates”. And we’ll get to see a lot of places from the famed era in history as Ubisoft promise that the game “features a vast open world with more than 50 navigable locations”, all, no doubt, will be historically accurate as they always are in the Assassin’s Creed games.

Ubisoft also say that Assassin’s Creed 4 : Black Flag will be available on PC, Xbox 360, PS3, PS4 and, most interestingly, “other next generation consoles”, which is a confirmation that the game will be available on whichever (yet) unannounced next-gen console Microsoft is working on.

Ubisoft have set the Assassin’s Creed 4 : Black Flag release date as November 1st, 2013.

Namco Bandai invites the master assassin from Assassin’s Creed: Revelations to join the next Soulcalibur game, which now has a release date for 2012.

To be Ezio, or not to be Ezio — that is the question! … See that would of made for such a super cool introductory line if Namco Bandai hadn’t gone and already let the cat out the bag by making the rumors of Assassin’s Creed: Revelations protagonist, Ezio Auditore de Firenze, appearing in the upcoming Soulcalibur V true. Ah, biscuits.

Anywho, as I mentioned, Ezio in the next installment of Namco Bandai’s flagship sword-fighter is 100% official, extending the cast of weapon-carrying combatants to eighteen after the axe-wielding golem, Astaroth, and steel-clawed, Viola, were unveiled quite recently. Though that that amount certainly won’t be capped there for too long — as scuttlebutt of another new mysterious Soulcalibur V character has been circling the web.

We might not have any concrete info on that hot piece of gossip, but we can show you Ezio being introduced in the world of Soulcalibur V with a fine piece of footage provided by Namco Bandai themselves. Feast your eyes on this:

I like how they flipped the “A” in Assassin’s Creed to match the roman “V” in Soulcalibur V — I see what you did there Namco Bandai you cheeky monkeys you.

Oh and I also saw — and I’m sure you probably did too unless you where overwhelmed by the awesomeness that was seeing Ezio in action (if you need to go take a breather go for it, I’ll understand) — towards the end of the trailer, a January 31st, 2012 release date for the game in North America (Europe gets it on February 3.) Which is also official too, so get ready for a new year of epic showdowns and blazing-sword action in 2012, with Soulcalibur V.

While we’re on the subject of awesome trailers, I hope you saw the extended cut trailer for the game Ezio is naturally starring in come this November 15th, Assassin’s Creed: Revelations.

Ubisoft has released an extended cut trailer for Assassin’s Creed: Revelations. Meaning more Ezio, which is always more better in my book. Check it out!

O Ezio, Ezio, wherefore art thou Ezio? Continuing the next chapter in the Assassin’s Creed story line after the events in Brotherhood, I see. Yet this time around you’ll be joined by fellow protagonists Altaïr ibn La-Ahad and Desmond Miles, in the present day of course, as you embark into the Ottoman Empire in 1511 AD.

A final journey this may be for you, sweet Ezio & Altair — but fear not good sirs! Centered upon Ubisoft’s brilliantly crafted open-world gameplay, Assassin’s Creed: Revelations will, if all things turn out as they should, be an experience fitting to end on. Yet, let not my words be taken as godly truth, feast upon this trailer, an extended cut of the Revelations’ trailer that debuted at E3 2011:

Splendid, don’t ye think? And the public surely won’t have to wait long to play Assassin’s Creed: Revelations — what with a November 15th release date quickly approaching. What is better than exclusive DLC for Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood on the PlayStation 3? How about exclusive “free” DLC for Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood entitled Copernicus Conspiracy.

Assassin’s Creed is a series that takes the best elements of the stealth, action, and sandbox genres and ties it together with a great historical representation. Both eras, the Crusades and the Renaissance, had an incredible amount of detail — from the architecture of the buildings, the sprawl of the landscapes, and the inhabiting people.

Honestly the team down at Ubisoft did a really superb job of – dare I say – immersing the player into a world of the past; an ancient world recreated so perfectly that the Assassin’s Creed series certainly deserves the praise it gets.

On November 16, gamers will see a continuing of such splendid historical locals with the release of Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood. While still set in the Renaissance era, the game expands on the events that took place in Assassin’s Creed 2, with protagonist Ezio reprising his role, and even adds in an exciting new multiplayer mode – a first for the series.

Even more of an interesting factoid, is that PlayStation 3 users will be receiving an awesome incentive to buy Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood with the word that launch-day downloadable content will be free and exclusive to the PlayStation 3 version of the hotly anticipated game.

This hasn’t been the first time that a Ubisoft game gave the PlayStation 3 special preference when it came to free exclusive downloadable content. In Batman: Arkham Asylum, the game received the exclusive Joker DLC as a sweet piece of extra content to enjoy, and with the upcoming Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood, this downloadble content looks equally sweet. Oh and did I mention it was also free?

The exclusive downloadable content in Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood is called Copernicus Conspiracy (try saying that five times fast,) and is a robust single-player add-on. Focused on Nicolaus Copernicus, a great scientific mind from who theorized that our Planet was not the center of the universe, but instead the Sun was. (Wait, its not?)

Of course the ruling church isn’t quite so happy with such a finding, what with the ole’ mighty Catholic doctrine and such, so it up to you, as Ezio, to protect Copernicus from current threats to his life — i.e. assassinations.

Sounds like a great way to test out your sneaky skills, and also very intriguing side story that I have no doubts will be awesome to play. Check it out when Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood drops November 16.

Assassin’s Creed is one heck of a game that has never, in its history, failed to satisfy its buyers. But, every fan has put forward one common complain, a request rather, that when would the Assassin’s Creed will be available in the collector’s pack which will include the Assassin’s Creed 1 and its sequel?

Well, the good news has finally been declared, the Assassin’s merchandise is made available in a collector’s edition pack with the launch of the second installment, Assassin’s Creed 2, which will not only include both the gaming disks, but, it will also feature a 12 inch figurine of the game’s main personality, Altair.
